Norma M. GESCHWINT Norma, age 89, passed away peacefully December 19, 2008 with her daughter at her side. A long time resident of West Seattle, who also lived in Alaska, two places she really enjoyed. She was born March 27, 1919 to John and Mary Picinich. Norma grew up in the Riverside community. She worked at the National Fruit Cannery and then went to Business College to learn accounting. Norma worked for many years as the head bookkeeper at Fisheries Supply Company. She had five brothers who preceded her in death: John, Joe, Frank, Willie and Anthony. She was married to William Geschwint and had two children. Bill preceded her in death. She loved her Holy Rosary Parish Community and was a member of the Sacred Heart Society, and Eucharistic Minister. Her interests were traveling to Reno, cruising to Alaska, spending time with her family and her dogs. She said the rosary often. She did volunteer work at the West Seattle Senior Center and the Union Gospel Mission. She was an active member of Silver Sneakers at the West Seattle YMCA. Most of all, she dearly loved her family: Karen, daughter, and her husband Lonnie Smith, and Kenneth, son. and his wife Susan Geschwint. Her grandchildren, Aron Smith and Melissa married to Shawn Crouch, and her great-grandchild Sadie Crouch. Norma had many friends in the West Seattle area. She was greatly loved and will be missed by her friends and family. We are thankful for the caregivers who helped her during her recent illness. We rejoice that she canre-join her family members in heaven. Friends may call on Sunday, Dec. 28th from 1:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. at Howden-Kennedy Funeral Home of West Seattle, where a Rosary will Begin at 7:00 p.m., Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Monday, Dec. 29th at 10:30 a.m. at Holy Rosary Catholic Church, 4139 42nd Ave SW, in West Seattle 98116. Burial will be at Holyrood Cemetery, 205 NE 205th St., Shoreline, WA 98155. In lieu of flowers, remembrances may be made to Holy Rosary Church. Published in the NWsource on 12/24/2008
