Alverez-Lopez, Alvina Natalia age 76, born March 1, 1934 in Douglas, Arizona passed on April 17, 2010 from complications from pneumonia in Scottsdale, Arizona. Alvina was born to Emma Amada Torralba Lopez from Pierdas Negras, Mexico and Alfredo Paredes Lopez from Cahuilla, Mexico. She is survived by her children Annette (Ivan); Ramon (Lolina); Yvette (Ed); Lina (Mark); her grandchildren Ramon Rene (Jessie), Francois, Dominic, Nicholas, Mateo, Cristian, Isabella, Sophia and her great grandchildren Tyler, Ayden, Kyla. The youngest of seven children, she is also survived by sister Emma (Chickie) Bernal Lopez (Raymond). She is preceded in death by her husband Ramon Robles Alvarez, her granddaughter Gabriella Suzanne Rooney, her sisters, Louisa and Dora, and her brothers, Lencho, Ruben, and Alfredo. Alvina graduated Douglas High School, married and moved to Tucson where she worked as an optician at Optical Dispensers for several years until Ramon graduated from U of A law school. They returned to Douglas where she helped her husband start his law practice. She also worked part time as a model for several boutiques and photographers in Douglas. She devoted herself entirely to creating a beautiful life for her family surrounded by the love of friends and extended family. She had an extraordinary gift for cooking, gardening, art and painting. She loved music, dancing, traveling and entertaining friends at their home. Memorial services will be held in Scottsdale and in Douglas. The service in Scottsdale will be held Thursday, April 22, 2010 at 6:30 p.m. at Messinger Mortuary, located at 7601 E. Indian School Road, Scottsdale, Arizona. The services in Douglas will be at on Saturday, April 24, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. at the Immaculate Conception Church, 928 C Avenue in Douglas. Donations can be made in her name to Banner Alzheimer's Research Institute, the Alzheimer's Association c/o Sandra Gonzalez, St. Mary's Food Bank or a charity of your choice.
