YVONNE BICEK Yvonne Bicek, née Camerlo, was born March 25, 1925, in Nice, a beautiful city on the southern coast of France. When she grew into a young woman, she already gave evidence of her caring nature by volunteering for the Red Cross. In 1957, Yvonne immigrated to the United States, where she met her future husband, Tom Bicek, a native of Vienna, Austria. Not long thereafter, they both became American citizens. Their first years together were spent in New York, followed by subsequent years in California and Washington State. But it was here in Henderson that she and her husband spent the rest of her life. Her favorite activities were volunteering at St. Rose Hospital, Sienna Campus, and painting beautiful landscapes. Yvonne passed away June 14, 2009, a few months after a stroke. Having suffered for much of her later life from the progressive and debilitating effects of Parkinson's Disease, it was her final sacrifice to will her body to medical research in the hope that it might help in the search for a cure for that disease. Her cremains will be scattered at sea. Yvonne is survived by her husband, Tom Bicek; and her sister, Jeanine Camerlo. Published in Las Vegas Review-Journal on 6/28/2009
