Armenta, Joe The Patriarch of the Armenta family Joe "Sonny" Armenta passed away on August 22, 2009 at the age of 80. He was born in Mesa, Arizona on April 25, 1929. He Attended Mesa High School where he was an All-State 3rd Baseman and a member of the 1947 State championship Baseball Team. He graduated in 1949. He served in our Armed Forces and was a Korean War Veteran. He was married to his wife of 48 years, Frances "Quica" Armenta in 1955. He was employed by Salt River Project for 32 years and retired in 1989. A highly accomplished Fast-Pitch Softball Player Sonny was inducted into the Arizona Fast-Pitch Softball Hall of Fame in 2003. He is survived by his children Ray, Veronica, Mark and Barbara. His sisters Consuelo Westin, Evangeline Vincent, Gloria Madril, and brother John Armenta. He is also survived by his 9 grandchildren Nicole, Tirsa, Lauren, Stephanie, Joey, RJ, Jenna, Chloe and Christopher and 3 great grandchildren. We Love You Dad, Tata, Super-Tata and Brother. You will always be with us. Visitation is Thursday, August 27, 6:00 -9:00 pm. and Rosary at 7:00 pm. at Melchers Chapel of the Roses . Funeral Mass is 10:00am Friday, August 28, at Queen of Peace Catholic Church 141 N. MacDonald, Mesa, AZ. Arrangements entrusted to Melchers Chapel of the Roses 43 S.
