Almanza, Jesus Ortiz 83, passed away on Wednesday, August 26, 2009, at a local hospital. Jesus was born in Clarksdale, Arizona on May 13, 1926, and resided in Phoenix most of his life. He was a WWII veteran in the Pacific Theatre. Following his service, Jesus returned to Arizona and entered a career in mining, and later automobile sales. Jesus was preceded in death by his parents, Maria and Jesus Sr., his sisters, Dora, Isabelle, and Vera, and his son, Jesse. He is survived by his former wife, Martha, and his long-time companion, Linda Diane; eight children, David, Roseanna, Mary, Alicia, Jessica, Sergio, Angelo, Gabriel; two step-children, Lori and Archie; thirteen grandchildren; brothers Alex and Tommy, and sisters Minerva and Mary; nieces, nephews, and friends. A visitation and memorial service will be held on Thursday, September 3, 2009 at 10:00 a.m. at Mercer Mortuary, 1541 E. Thomas Road, Phoenix, AZ, 85014. Private interment to follow at a later date.
