Glasgow, Margaret M. (Beach) Rode 102 03/04/1907 11/22/2009 Margaret M. (Beach) Rode Glasgow, beloved mother, best friend and most trusted confidant, passed from our sight Nov. 22, 2009, in Atlantic City, N.J. She was 102. Margaret lived in Mays Landing, N.J., and was formerly of Portland, and earlier of Oakville, Conn. She was the widow of Konstantius B. Rode and Aaron H. Glasgow. Margaret, also known as Meg, Maggie, Ma, Mom, Gram, Pussywillow and Cookie Moon Gram, was born March 4, 1907, in Stratford, Conn. A daughter of the late Frank Herbert and Lila Francis (Mallett) Beach, Margaret lived in Oakville most of her life. She moved to Portland in 1968, then to Mays Landing in September of 2000. She was educated in Stratford and Washington, Conn. Prior to her retirement, Margaret was employed by the Watertown School System in Connecticut. She was a member of Watertown OES Chapter 96. She loved to spend time with her family and many friends, was an avid bird watcher and loved all of God's creations. She enjoyed reading, traveling, watching the ocean and knitting caps for newborns which she donated to local hospitals. Margaret leaves two sons, Roy Rode of Mays Landing, with whom she made her home; and Erik Rode of Portland; two daughters, Hazel Thompson of New Milford, Conn.; and Lila Grindle of Blue Hill, Maine; several grandchildren; great-grandchildren; and great-great- grandchildren; many nieces; nephews; and great-nieces and -nephews. Graveside services for Margaret will be at noon Saturday, Dec. 5, 2009, in Evergreen Cemetery, 183 North Street, Watertown, CT 06795. There are no calling hours.
