Bible, John J. Judge John J. "Jack" Bible Age 86 of San Bruno, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2010. He was a compassionate and dependable husband and friend who will be deeply missed. Having served as San Mateo County Superior Court Judge between 1978 and 1993, he is remembered as a warm and considerate jurist who showed particular kindness toward victims and a concern for the protection of children. Jack Bible was born in Denver, Colorado, where he lived until entering the Army Air Force during World War II. After his discharge in 1946, he moved with his family to San Francisco. He earned a Bachelor's Degree in Economics from the University of San Francisco before working as an insurance adjuster for eleven years. He then returned to the same university and earned his law degree in 1959. He continued to work in the insurance business for two more years before opening his civil law practice in 1964. Later that same year, he formed a Millbrae law firm with George Corey who would be his life-long friend. In March of 1978, Jack Bible was appointed to the San Mateo County Superior Court bench by Governor Edmund G. "Jerry" Brown, Jr. Most notably, he was an exceptionally caring and devoted husband to his wife, Barbara, who pre-deceased him. Surviving Judge Bible is his long time companion, Renee Rubin and loving family members, Melanie Polka (niece), Michael John Polka (nephew), Marlene Bible Guthrie (niece), Sonnie Zagyi (cousin) and Carole Palfy Steinson (cousin). Family and friends are invited to visit after 6:30 PM and attend the Vigil service at 7:30 PM on Monday, May 31, 2010 at St. Robert's Church, 1380 Crystal Springs Road in San Bruno. The Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Tuesday, June 1, 2010, 10:30 AM at St. Robert's Church. Committal with military honors will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery in Colma.
