Babbitt, Martin Frederick Martin Frederick Babbitt Beloved husband, father and grandfather went to his heavenly home on Thursday May 20, 2010 while working on his earthly dream home on Vaughn Bay. Born on February 16, 1938, Martin was a descendent of the Hunt family, one of the first pioneering families of Gig Harbor. His life was one of many purposeful projects, working from sunrise to sunset, and with that pioneering spirit he inherited his accomplishments were many. After serving his country in the Navy, Martin received a degree in Business Administration from PLU and went on to establish a commercial site development company which he owned and operated for more than 20 years. This pioneering spirit also carried over to his contributions to the community when he created the first Peninsula Soccer Club and spent many hours working on site development of the gymnasium addition to Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church of which he had been a member for 46 years. With his strong work ethic and commitment to family, church and community, he leaves a legacy for generations to come. Survivors include his wife Arlene, brother Dean Babbitt, children and their spouses Laurie and Roy Parkison, Douglas Babbitt, Brian and Joanna Babbitt, and Bonnie Massara. Surviving Grandchildren include Lindsey and Nick Parkison, Spencer and Gavin Babbitt, Ashley and Beau Shatto, Marie Massara and Samuel and AnnaSofia Babbitt. He is also survived by one Aunt Anita Sieber and numerous cousins. Graveside service at Artondale Cemetery for family members followed by a Memorial Service at Chapel Hill Presbyterian Church at 4:00 pm, May 29th, 2010.
