Beach, Mary Carmel BEACH, Mrs. Mary Carmel (Ingraffia) (Hager) Was born in Independence, Louisiana on June 9, 1924 to Rosario and Giuseppina (Daratro) Ingraffia. She died peacefully Monday, June 21, 2010 at the Gardens on University in Spokane Valley from complications of a stroke she suffered in February 2009. Mom attended Independence High School where she graduated Valedictorian of her class and went on to graduate from Southeastern Louisiana University in 1945 with a BA in Business/Education. She married Albert Gallatin Hager in 1945 in Hammond, LA. They had two children, Jo Ellen and Albert III. She married Charles M. Beach in 1970 inSpokane, WA. Charles had two children, Carolyn and Charles Jr. This union lasted 30 years until his death in 2000. Mary taught overseas at Camp Crawford in Hokkaido, Japan; at Narimasu High School in Tokyo, Japan; and at the International School of Bangkok in Bangkok, Thailand. One of the highlights of her career was teaching the Crown Princesses of Thailand how to type. She also taught in Louisiana,Maryland, and North Carolina. She worked in several city government offices in Spokane, WA and retired as the Veteran's Advisor for Educational Benefits at Spokane Community College. Mom was exceedingly smart, beautiful and a great dancer and cook. She was active in many groups, including the Red Hat Society, Telephone Pioneers, and the 54th Signal Battalion reunions. She was a very social person and will be missed dearly by family and friends. She is survived by her children, Jo Ellen Reynolds (Dr. Frank and childrenHolly, Dalton and Marshall) and Albert Hager III (Mary Kay Sommerfield and children Albert IV and Gabrielle), stepchildren Carolyn Calhoon (Jim and daughters Connie Taylor and Christine Anderson (Michael)), Charles Jr.(Wendy and daughter Brenna) and four great-grandstepchildren (Joseph and Samantha Taylor, and Jacquelyn and Jillian Anderson). Also surviving is her brother Sam Ingraffia (Pat) of Katy, Texas and sister, Frances Dykes ofColumbia, South Carolina. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Joe (Rose), Giovanni, John (Mary), Angelo, and Mike (Jean) and her sisters Angie Richardson, Tina Unger (Richard), and Rose Macaluso (Nace). Visitation will take place on Friday, June 25, 2010 from 12:00 PM until 4:30 PM at Hazen and Jaeger Valley Funeral Home, 1306 N.
