BEACH, Donald H. Don Beach passed away April 16, 2007, at home in Tekoa, Washington. He was born the third of five children to Harry C. and Anna Beach in Winchester, Idaho on June 25, 1928. He graduated from Clarkston High School, and continued his education at Lewis and Clark State College in Lewiston, Idaho, and at the University of Idaho at Moscow. He first taught and coached at Clearwater Valley High School in Kooskia/Stites, until he came to Tekoa as principal, then superintendent, in 1962. In 1977, Don became the superintendent of the Coeur d' Alene Tribal School in DeSmet, Idaho, where he worked until his retirement. Throughout his career, he enjoyed working with children and young people as a coach, teacher, councilor, principal, and superintendent. Don's proudest coaching achievement was leading his CVHS track team to the Idaho state championship. He was also proud of his many accomplishments at both Tekoa and the Coeur d' Alene Tribal School. After his retirement, he enjoyed being on Tekoa's city council. He always enjoyed fishing and hiking on the Clearwater River, and boating on Lake Coeur d'Alene. He is survived by his wife Larraine at their home in Tekoa, daughter Rebecca and Tom of Pullman, WA, daughter Jennifer and Tony of Santa Ana, CA; son Kenton of Aberdeen, WA; son Kurtis and Lisa of Auburn, WA; grandchildren Kent and Amanda, and brother-in-law Max Burns of Clarkston, and numerous nieces, nephews, and their children, whom he loved very much. He also will be missed by his many friends and those whom he considered his extended family. The Memorial Service will be held Sunday, April 29th at 2:00 p.m. in the Tekoa High School Gymnasium.
