Helen Pacecca BARLIA Helen Pacecca Barlia left us in the early morning hours of March 27th to join her husband of 63 years, Mike, in heavenly peace. She came to this country at the age of eight from Reggio Calabria, Italy, with her mother Rose and Uncle Sam Vigliarolo. She had careers in ready-to-wear at I Magnin and her own shop, Adrian's Apparel and the floral arts. Mike and Helen met and married in 1943 and were a great ballroom dancing team for many years. She and Mike owned a delicatessen in the late 50's, on a site that is now the Swedish Medical Center. Her home and family were her life; she loved flowers and was a gardener extraordinaire. Gorgeous flowers or vegetables, she could grow anything. Bingo was a passion in her later years, as well as junkets to Reno with the Italian club. Survived by her sister Florence Pompeo; sister-in-law Alice Mariani; her children, Carole (Len) McDade and David (Jeanne) Barlia; niece Sheri Pompeo; grandchildren, Carolyn McDade, Rochelle (Spencer) Otis, Renee Orr, Andre McDade and Yvonne (Tom) Woodward; and great-granddaughter, Chanel Otis. Memorial Service will be held at Acacia Funeral Home at 2:00 p.m., April 5th, 14951 Bothell Way NE, Sea 98155. Interment at Holyrood. Published in print on 4/2/2008. Seattle Times
