Janet Marie BEACH In memory of our wonderful, caring mother, Janet Marie Beach, born January 12, 1922 in Palisades, Washington. She passed away peacefully March 19, 2006 in Shoreline, Washington, surrounded by her loving family. Janet will be greatly missed, but the strong memories of her generous spirit will warm those who loved her for many years to come. Janet's great joys in life were her family, friends, the outdoors, vacations, reading, crossword puzzles, movies, relaxing, and chocolate. Janet was a Seattle resident since the 20s. She graduated from Lincoln High School in 1939. She and her husband, Wayne were a sensation dancing the Jitterbug, and often the other dancers would stop and surround them with an audience. Preceded in death by her husband, Wayne Beach in 1955. Survived by her four children, Larry Beach (Bonnie), Sandra Lutovsky (Richard), Susie Shea (Mike), and Jerry Beach (Deenne). Janet had 13 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandson. She is also survived by her dear sister, Eilleen Rogers and her brother-in-law, Don. Janet was also close to their children, Donald Rogers (Maureen) and Carole Tyson (Steve). All Janet's family adored her laughter and smiles. After the death of her young husband more than 50 years ago, Janet courageously raised her four young children, starting out with nothing. Janet worked for more than 20 years as the bookkeeper at the Seattle Moose Lodge, and enjoyed the camaraderie among the members and the employees. Janet's mother, Ellen Mates Burke, was born in Ireland and the family has carried on her Irish traditions. On the Friday before Janet died, dozens of family and friends celebrated a very special St. Patrick's Day with her at the Anderson House, where she spent her last 3 weeks. We thank the Anderson House for the wonderful care they gave our mother. A private cremation and uplifting Irish wake were held at her request. Janet suggested any remembrances be sent to the Children's Hospital Foundation (www.seattlechildrens.org). Published in print on 4/2/2006. Seattle TImes
