Darlene K. McRAE Age 59, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, daughter and sister, passed away December 14, 2005, at her home in Newcastle, WA, with her husband and daughters by her side. Born October 10, 1946 in Minden, NV, Darlene was happiest when surrounded by people. Her family meant everything to her, enriched in recent years by her two granddaughters. Her many interests and outgoing nature resulted in an ever-growing circle of friends. She enjoyed many activities with her family and friends including travel, book club, investment club, bridge, and good conversation over a long lunch. People were drawn to her kindness and thoughtfulness. Her positive attitude saw her through a nearly 12-year battle with cancer. She inspired all who knew her through her strength of spirit, courage, love, and always, humor. While her time was too short, she touched so many lives and we are all better for having known her. Darlene is survived by her husband of nearly 40 years, Bob McRae of Newcastle; daughter Cheryl McRae of Seattle; daughter, son-in-law and granddaughters, Dianne, Alan, Hannah and Adrienne Pickerill of Sammamish; father Aldo Biaggi of Minden, NV; sister and brother-in-law Carol and Andy Aldax of Minden, NV; and brother and sister-in-law Allen and Linda Biaggi of Gardnerville, NV. We would like to express our sincere gratitude to the wonderful nurses and doctors at the Seattle Cancer Care Alliance and the University of Washington who cared for Darlene with love and compassion for so many years. A Memorial celebrating Darlene's life will be held at the Edmonds Conference Center, 201 4th Ave. N., Edmonds (edcc.edu/center) at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, December 20. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Susan G. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation. Published in print on 12/17/2005. Seattle Times
