Hazel Irene Babbitt PENSON 

91, passed away June 24, 2000. Hazel was born February 23, 1909 in Bartley, Nebraska. She was the 
2nd daughter of 10 children, to Cecil and Nellie Babbitt. The family moved to Boise, ID. in 1923. 
Hazel graduated from Boise High in 1928, and St. Luke's School of Nursing in 1931. In August 1932 
she and Harry R. Penson, eloped and finally settled in Seattle, where she continued her nursing 
profession. Hazel enjoyed traveling, flowers, music, camping, campfires and family. She was 
preceded in death by her husband Harry in 1992 and is survived by two daughters, Constance L. 
Nelson; Suellen Campbell; son, Duane H. Penson; sister, Mildred Jurries; brother Clayton Babbitt; 
six grandchildren and five great-grandchildren. Memorial Service will be at 2 p.m., Monday, July 3, 
2000 at the First United Methodist Church of Renton, 2201 N.E. 4th St., Renton.
