Dario PIAGENTINI Age 74, passed away May 8th, 2000. Born in San Romano, Italy on June 21st 1925. Dario emigrated from Italy in the early 1950's, initially locating in Boston, Mass. Upon his arrival he began working as a plaster statuary manufacturer...later relocating to the West coast, settling in San Francisco. He soon began a partnership in what would become a very successful business manufacturing concrete garden ornaments. In the late 1970's Dario and his wife Myrl returned to the Seattle area to be closer to their family. Locally, Dario Luigi Piagentini is best known as the founder of "Dario's Statuary". His friends can be found in all walks of life, meeting at times at many of the fine Italian restaurants throughout the area or more often in his own kitchen around the noon hour. "Sit down I'll make you lunch", he'd tell his friends. Dario would serve homemade delights, mostly remembered from back home. If he didn't have you hooked by now, his offer of homemade wine certainly would. Dario loved cooking (especially for friends and even more for his friends' friends). He was an avid gardener and loved raising geraniums. He passed his time making wine; making molds; making friends; helping others and spending time with his grandkids and family. Oh, and that "occasional" trip to the track!! Dario is survived by his wife Myrl; his sons Doug Armfield (Wendy), Arne Armfield (Robin), Allen Grissom (Alexis), Tom Grissom (Kathy); his daughter Vicki Frickberg (Mike); eight grandchildren Amy, Michael, Meghann, Josh, Sarah, Allison, Tommy and Tony; one god-daughter Kathlene; two cousins, Margaret and Johnny. In Italy he is survived by his niece Rita (Carlo), their children and grandchildren, and many other cousins and friends. He is also survived by a large extended family who will miss him greatly. Dario, you are and always will be our mentor and our hero...thanks Viewing on Friday, May 12th at COLUMBIA FUNERAL HOME , 4567 Rainier Ave. S., Seattle between 12 p.m. and 7 p.m. Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Sat., May 13, 2000 a St, George Catholic Church , 5306 13th S., Seattle.
