Filomena Fiorito PICARDO A mother, wife, sister, aunt, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a friend to everyone. Filomena Fiorito Picardo, fondly known as Florence, was born in Seattle, May 18, 1911. She grew up and lived most of her life in the North End of Seattle. Florence died on June 1, 2000 after a brief illness. The daughter of a pioneering construction family, she was a graduate of Ballard High School, 1929, and a Golden Beaver. She married George Picardo, who worked for N. Fiorito Construction Co. In the summer she picked up her daughter and son, and sometimes nephews and nieces, and went along to the construction sights around the state. Florence was an avid reader, interested in history, travel, cooking, and the arts, but also had a great fondness for the game of bridge. She was able to read and write in Italian for family and friends, sometimes identifying relatives in old photos for Italian families. She was active in the Seattle University Women's Guild, serving as president in 1961. She was a member of the Italian Club Women's Auxiliary and a 50 year member of Christ the King Parish. Survived by her daughter, Louise Hundertmark, and her husband Fritz; and her son, Ernie, and his wife, Eileen, both of Mill Creek.
