Howard B. PICHT July 5, 1919 - December 15, 2002 Born July 5, 1919, son of Mr. and Mrs. Harry B. Picht, in Seattle, WA in the area now considered Ballard. Howie resided 70 years in the Greenwood area before moving to Lynnwood, WA. Howie attended St. John's elementary school and Seattle Preparatory School. During this time he was active in athletics-football and baseball, and was Class President all 4 years at Seattle Prep. He attended Gonzaga College where he played football. In 1939 he went to work for Boeing and on Feb 6, 1941 he qualified as a bus driver with Seattle Transit System where his leadership ability was recognized and rewarded. On August 21, 1943 he married the love of his life, Alice Cullinane. They raised six children in St John's Parish. He coached CYO sports for many years and received the Pro Deo et Juventute award. He was instrumental in raising funds to build Egan Hall at St. John's. Howie was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was active in St. Vincent de Paul-president at St. John's and later at St. Pius X and Snohomish County treasurer. He was a wonderful father. At home and at work, he was loved and respected, had a wonderful, quick sense of humor and was recognized by all as being a fair man. He was affectionately known as The Silver Fox at work and Daddy-O at home. When he retired on Feb 6, 1982-forty- one years to the date he started with Seattle Transit, he had a grand retirement party where his family learned that he was as truly loved at work as he was at home. He and Alice had over 20 years of traveling and enjoying life in retirement. Howie is survived by his wife, Alice; his children, Susan, David (Mary), Jim, Kathleen, Tom (Brenda), John (Karen); and his very special grandchildren, Dennis (Nicole) and Erin. Recitation of the Rosary will be 11:30 a.m. on Wednesday, December 18th, followed by the Funeral Mass at 12 noon, BOTH at St. Pius X Church, 22109 58th Ave W., Mountlake Terrace, WA. 98043. Interment, Holyrood Cemetery.
