Eugene Elmer PAANANEN Born: June 2, 1924; Died: Jan. 7, 2003 Born in Ironwood, MI. and student of Ironwood public schools. He was a proud WWII Veteran of the Army 106th Infantry Division 422nd Regiment, and ex POW, fought, wounded and captured in the Battle of the Bulge. Lovingly married to Elaine (Haaro) for 55 years. After the war he worked 28 years for the Burroughs Corp. in Detroit, MI. and Westlake, CA., as an Electronic Engineer. He held several patents in early computer technology. He enjoyed his family, golf, travel, and antiques. He spent his retirement in MI., AZ., and WA. Gene meets in heaven his son David, daughter Cheryl, his parents William and Ellen Paananen, his brother Rueben of Glendale, AZ. and Edwin of Ironwood, MI. He is remembered and cherished by his wife Elaine, sons Terry (Mary), Bill (Marian), Ron (Kelly), and daughter Sue Ellen of Seattle, WA., and son Richard (Sandy) of England, along with grandchildren; Jon, Will, Jeff, Erin, Alan, Brandon, Eric, James, Andrew, Emma, and Grace, and his brother Arne of Bellevue, WA., as well as many family and friends in MI., WA., AZ., and CA.
