Marian (Pat) Louise PEACOCK Born July 18, 1911 in Douglas County, WA to Selden Marion Murphy and Jennie Alzina (Wilcher) Murphy. She died August 25, 2006 in Kent, WA. She moved with her parents in 1918 to Wenatchee, WA where she attended grade and high school and then graduated from Griffin-Murphy Business College in Seattle, WA. After working in the office of Montgomery Ward in Wenatchee for several years she was united in marriage with Hubert Williams Peacock on June 6, 1936. The couple resided on the Peacock Farm in Hobart, WA from 1936. He preceded her in death on May 8, 1985. She and Hubert helped start The Saturday Squares in 1950 and was a member of the square dance club until 1975. In 1952 they built a square dance hall on the farm where she called square dancing and taught round dancing. She worked as a Secretary in the Engineering Department of The Boeing Co. for 12 years, taking an early retirement in 1969. She became a member of Central Christian Church in Wenatchee in 1920 and transferred to First Christian Church of Kent in 1961. She was a member of Cedar Grange #534 in Maple Valley, WA and several Rock and Gem Clubs in the area. She was a Life Member of the Maple Valley Historical Society. She took up several hobbies, including square dancing, painting, sewing, and rock work and was fortunate to enjoy many wonderful trips including snow birding to Yuma, AZ for 12 years. Marian is survived by her three children: Huberta (Del) Zander, David (Bonnie) Peacock, and Richard (Candy) Peacock, nine grandchildren, and thirteen great grandchildren, and a sister, Helen Murphy. A Celebration of her Life will begin at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 1, 2006 at First Christian Church of Kent, 11717 SE 240th St., Kent, WA. Marian's family would like to thank all the caregivers at Merry Heart Adult Family Home for their care in her last years.
