Charles Donald Picard Charles "Don" Picard died peacefully on Saturday, May 1, 2004 at his home in Federal Way. He was born in Washington, DC on September 5, 1936 to Ruby Gannaway Picard and Charles William Picard. The family moved to North Hollywood, California in the 1940s. Don joined the US Army in 1955 and was honorably discharged in 1957. He returned to North Hollywood after the service and went to work for Hughes Aircraft as an Electronics Systems Technician, working at various Air Force bases in California, New York, Florida and Washington. In 1964, Don decided to settle his young family in Washington State, so he left the traveling life of Hughes Aircraft and went to work for NCR in Tacoma for a short time. His career led him to Pacific National Bank where he managed the Electronic Business Services division for many years. In 1978 he went to work for Automatic Data Processing in Bellevue as the General Manager from 1978 until his retirement in 1992. Don retired early to pursue his lifelong passion of fishing. After retirement, he commercially fished for salmon out of Newport, Oregon on his troller the F/V Opportunity. Don is survived by his wife Nadine, his daughters Kathe and Michele, his brother Greg and Greg's family, his grandson Rudolph, and his granddaughter Meta and her husband Matt. A private graveside service was held at the Tahoma National Cemetery. A memorial service for friends and family will be held in June. Please, the family requests no flowers.
