Rev. Stanley W. Peach August 29, 1922-January 3, 2007. Stan Peach was born to Clifford and Foncie Peach in Portland. He graduated from Milwaukie High School in 1940, and was very fond of steam locomotives, model railroading, and his Studebaker. He served in the U.S. Navy aboard the destroyer escort, U.S.S. Currier, during World War II from 1942 to 1946, starting as a radio tech second class, and retiring as chief petty officer. Upon returning to Portland, he received his bachelor's degree from Lewis & Clark College in 1950, then went on to serve as pastor of the Chinese First Baptist Church. He enjoyed performing magic acts, which he often combined into gospel outreach programs. He also attended Western Baptist Theological Seminary, where he met Elna Brown. They were married on March 21,1948. Upon graduating from seminary in 1951, Stan and Elna became missionaries with the Conservative Baptist Foreign Mission Society (now known as WorldVenture). During his 30-year tenure in Taiwan, Stan served in a variety of ministries including evangelistic outreach, forming a Bible college, and establishing seven churches. Stan returned to Portland in 1980 where he served as chaplain at Kaiser Sunnyside Medical Center until 1992. He became a master gardener through the OSU Extension Service, and visited gardens throughout the Northwest, Canada, Holland and New Zealand, in addition to keeping his own extensive garden at their Milwaukie home. He was a member of Milwaukie First Baptist Church for 40 years, and most recently a member of New Harvest Church, Salem. Stan is survived by his wife of 58 years, Elna; brother, Howard; sister, Mildred Sandwick; son, Phil; daughter, Melody Lidtke; and three granddaughters. A memorial service is scheduled for 11 a.m. Thursday, Jan. 11, at Milwaukie First Baptist Church, 10750 S.E. 42nd Avenue, Milwaukie, OR 97222.
