PICHé, Albert H. "Bill" Oct. 20, 1920-March 20, 2007 Albert H. "Bill" Piché, Saratoga, Calif., died on March 20, 2007. A native son and resident of Oregon until last year, Mr. Piché was the son of Hazel and Albert Piché of Medford. His grandparents, the Charles Hamiltons, were early pioneers of the Applegate Valley and Rush areas. Mr. Piché was a prominent athlete at Medford High School and was named an All-State player in football, basketball and baseball. He served in the Navy in the European Theater of Operations for 2 1/2 years during WW II. He graduated from Oregon State University in 1948 after starring on the varsity baseball team and later was the Head Baseball Coach at Corvallis High School and Crater High School in Central Point. A lifelong educator, at the time of his retirement in 1982 he was the Director of Scholarships at Medford Senior High School. Mr. Piché is survived by his loving wife of 64 years, the former Ruth Eleanor Hess of Ashland; and a son, William of Saratoga, Calif. Two children, Terry and Janet, pre-deceased him. Mr. Piché has seven grandchildren and six great-grandchildren. Interment will be at 3 p.m., Saturday, March 24, Siskiyou Memorial Park, Medford. The family requests that in lieu of flowers donations be made to the American Cancer Society or to the Oregon State University Foundation. Published in The Oregonian on 3/23/2007.
