Bill, 64, Jeannine, 63, and their grandson, Benjamin, age 12, passed away in a plane crash June 15, 2007. Born Oct. 31, 1942, Bill grew up in Coeur d' Alane, Idaho and Paradise, Calif. Born Oct. 23, 1943, Jeannine grew up in Yreka, Calif. Bill and Jeannine met in college at Chico State University and were married April 20, 1963. Bill's employers included Boeing, the State of Oregon, AMI, Chipsoft and Intuit. Jeannine was a dedicated wife, mother, and homemaker. When Bill retired in 1999, they built their dream home on land with a creek in Idleyld Park in southern Oregon. From then on, they were rarely without each other. Jeannine and Bill were the glue of the family, keeping everyone connected. Their love of genealogy reflected how much they valued family. Their other passions were flying and landscaping, which they shared joyously. They are loved and missed beyond measure. Survivors include Bill's sister, Bettie Jo Coutolenc; Jeannine's brothers, Eric and Michael Pianka; sons, Colin and Torin Shepard; and grandchildren, Cameron and Emerald (children of Colin and wife Victoria) and Laurel (child of Torin and wife Julie). For remembrance, checks payable to "Benjamin Shepard Memorial Fund" can be mailed to Rachel Carson Middle School, 1600 NW 173rd Ave., Beaverton, OR, 97006. Published in The Oregonian on 7/15/2007.
