Phyllis A. STRISSEL This caring and devoted mother, wife, sister, step grandmother, aunt and very special friend, was born Oct. 28, 1924 in Barrett, Minnesota. She passed away peacefully in her sleep, surrounded by her family, on Sunday evening, Jan. 20, 2002, after a courageous 14-year battle with cancer. Phyllis is survived by her husband of 54 years, Gaylord, son Bruce, daughter and son-in-law, Susan and John T. Davis, daughter Sandra, daughter and son-in-law, Shelly and Joe Rowland and family, sister and brother-in-law, Mary Jane and Duane Mavis and family, brother and sister-in-law, Robert and Darlene Beach and family, brothers-in-law Boyd Strissel and Dale Strissel, and many loving aunts, nieces, nephews and their families. She was married to Gaylord on Feb. 19, 1948 and they lived in Fergus Falls, Minnesota until 1955. Then they moved to Billings, Montana where they lived until 1969, and have lived in the Bellevue and Kirkland area ever since. Phyllis loved flowers, birds, music of the big band era and Latin rhythms, traveling whenever she could and visiting with family and friends. She will always have a place in the hearts of all those who knew her and she will always have a place in her heart for them. Her family would like to acknowledge the wonderful care and special attention from her doctors and nursing staff at the University of Washington Medical Center and Seattle Cancer Care Alliance. Memorial Services to be held at 3 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 26, at Bleitz Funeral Home chapel, 316 Florentia St., Seattle.
