Mrs. Margaret Lilly Peabody SMITH Passed away peacefully at home the evening of October 6, 2002. "Monie" was born to Sophie May Dell and Charles Macaulay Peabody on July 25, 1915. She attended Seattle schools including Holy Names Academy, graduating from Seattle University in 1937 and then completing her masters in social work at Lone Mountain. Margaret married Mr. Robert Lee Smith on December 31,1939 at St. Joseph's Church, Seattle. Throughout the war years, Monie worked at Seattle University in the Dean's Office while Bob was stationed overseas in the United States Navy. A deeply devoted wife, mother, grandmother and friend, Monie was active all her life in alumnae associations for Seattle University, Forest Ridge and Seattle Prep. Monie was a member of her Catholic Childhood Group "Elizabeth Gerbel Circle" for 69 years. Margaret was preceded in death by her husband Bob, her sister Charlotte Bellman and grandson Ryan M. Smith. Monie left a fabulous legacy of love to her five daughters, Monica P. Smith, Christina M. Mead, Carolyn Lee (Patrick Chestnut), Mary M. (Andrew B. Smith), Elizabeth Lee (Terrance E. O'Neil), and one son, Robert L. Jr (Mary Mead Smith), seventeen grandchildren, Amy C. (Lahcen Ajbour), Tobias M. (Carol P. Smith), Jacob R. (Alethia Mead), Macaulay Smith, Kara Mead, Ryan Smith, Robert Johnson, Terese Smith, Alexander Johnson, Margaret Smith, Matthew Smith, Elizabeth Mead, Addison Smith, Benjamin Smith, Helen O'Neil, Charles O'Neil and Michael O'Neil. Also great grandchildren Ryan James, Elle Rain and Jacob Andrew. The Smith family wishes to express great appreciation for devoted and loving caretakers, Kate Curry , Monica "Coco" Smith and Hospice Care. Recitation of the Rosary will be at St. James Cathedral, "Our Lady's Chapel" at 7:30 p.m. on Friday, October 11, 2002. Memorial Mass will be celebrated at St. Hubert's Catholic Church, Langley, WA. at 12 o'clock noon on Saturday, October 12, 2002.
