Josephine Peabody TROXELL Josephine Peabody Troxell, daughter of John Allen Peabody and Mary Nutter Peabody, passed away November 11, 2002; a third generation Seattle resident, she was born July 24, 1913. Predeceased by her cherished husband and loving companion of thirty-eight years, John Adron Troxell, and a son, John Allen Troxell. A loving mother, grandmother and friend she is survived by her daughters, Josephine Troxell Gordon, Olympia, Washington, and Judith Troxell Newman, San Diego, California; five grandchildren: James Gordon, Alexandra Gordon, Kristen Boe, Elizabeth Pruett, and Jill Brousseau; and six great grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Patricia Peabody Latcham, and her brother, George Nutter Peabody. A graduate of the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Science degree in Civil Engineering, 1934, and graduate studies in urban planning, she was a member of the Society of Women Engineers, the National Society of Colonial Dames of America, the Seattle Opera Guild, the Highlands and Park Shore Guilds of Children's Hospital, the University of Washington Alumni Association, and an active community volunteer throughout her life. A Memorial Service will be held Saturday, November 16, at St. Paul's Episcopal Church, 15 Roy Street, Seattle, at 10 a.m. At her request, donations can be made to Children's Hospital Foundation, PO Box 50020 M/S S-200, Seattle, WA 98145-5020.
