Mary Ann Winans

Mary Ann Winans, loving wife, mother, sister and friend, passed away Sunday, January 
23, 2005. She was born January 11, 1938 in Brooklyn, New York. She is survived by 
her husband of 28 years, John Winans, of University Place; Sister Linda Ross and 
husband Bob of Washougal; brother Ed Bice, of Puerto Vallarta, Mexico; daughters 
Lora Usher and husband Doug of Bonney Lake; Lana Plaisted of Steilacoom; Michelle 
Skanes and husband Brando of Galloway, New Jersey; sons Chuck Jenkins of 
Tacoma; and Mark Winans of Fairbanks, Alaska. She has three granddaughters 
Amanda, Amber, and Taylor. Since her retirement in 1993 she and her husband John 
have been splitting their time between Tacoma in the summer and Phoenix in the 
winter. Her two greatest joys were dancing with her husband John and spending time 
with family and friends. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, 
February 1, at New Tacoma Cemeteries Chambers Creek Chapel. A reception will be 
held following the services at the Lakeside Club, in Lakewood, off Veterans Dr. SW 
and Pine St. A viewing will be held on Sunday, January 30th and Monday January 31st 
from 9:00am to 8:00pm, at New Tacoma Cemeteries Funeral Home.
